Strike ! or simply shrug ... and this time 'round you'll be joined by Slug

(pages from my diary ... 7th Nov '09)

If the world were a machine ... a motor would be running it.
The mind that made the machine feeds on a thought process - creative, independent & inventive. It is the brilliance of certain beautiful minds that shines as beacons on the tortuous road of a society's progress.

What is the role of an individual's mind in the collective existence of the society? What is its role in shaping the environment which the thoughts and soul would be nurtured ?

I ventured out to find an answer ...

At the beginning of time there was an individual ... All alone ... In the company of just a thought process. These thoughts gradually gave rise to communication and then relations to form a society. Society gradually grew and became more prosperous by rewarding and encouraging independence and freedom of thought.
But time wished to stick to one of its favorite maxims that ... "All good things must come to an end".
Society grew larger than the boots it had loaned from from the principles of the individual who had breathed life into it.

Slowly the weather turned gloomy ... with storm clouds looming large over its head. People within the society tried to adjust, feeling that the rough patch of weather would quickly pass ... Wishful thinking on their part !!!
It kept raining ... and the gloom just grew like a bubble around them ... They thought it would burst soon .. but it was too strong for that ... There was the occasional thunder & lightening.
People still were trying to adjust ... amusing themselves with friendly banter ... but deep down they felt the rumblings of something ominous ...

There was this fellow who spoke his mind, and as a matter-of-fact was not very popular. He asked a simple question :
"What do you think would happen if were not confined and forced to adjust? "

A simple question. But with grave repercussions ...

It is very clear betwixt the individual and the society, about who created whom. But as society gets stronger it actually tries to obliterate the existence of the individual - the building block, the unit cell !! The creation trying to destroy its creator, to preserve its form. Happy Birthday Frankestein !!!

The individual claims that if its achievements and independence are demonized, society will stagnate and eventually rot. It believes that its creativity will bring home laurels and to implement this effect urges society to stop being a watch-dog ... stop the impositions ... stop trying to barge into its soul ... stop the fake moral policing ... stop the suffocation !!! enough !! Stop feeding on the willingness of the good to suffer at the hands of the evil ... to stop making scape-goats of individuals ... to stop making the individuals sacrificial animals to feed society's monster of creating values ! Biased values !!!

But society turns a deaf ear to the individuals pleas and petitions.... As deaf as a doorpost.
It is society's second nature to parasitize the conscience of the individual and bask in their  crowning glory. It is a diseased state of affairs ... But how long shall this linger ? Probably this the next round of natural selection...  That shall ultimately decide the survival of the fittest.

Evil is impotent and has no power but that which the individual allows it to encroach upon, and its only weapon of destruction is the willingness of "good"  to serve it.

But ... I still firmly believe that happiness is a conscious state that originates from following one's virtues and the standards one has set. It all depends upon how well one learns to value the self.

And towards this goal... I need no warrant for being, and no word of sanction upon my thoughts and actions. I AM the warrant and the sanction !!The country-made self-appointed saviors of society may kindly refrain from the propagation of unsolicited opinions, to spare themselves from the embarrassing discovery of its exact value among its audience. As for the Goebbel followers who believe that intellectual activity is a threat to the building of character ...
How many times must a man walk down
Before you call him a man ?
How many times must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand ?
How many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they are forever banned ?
The answer my friend is blowing in the wind
The answer is blowing in the wind ....

Go catch it ... !!!
